WHAT DOES THE TEEN BOARD DO?
Established November 2017, the Friends of Martin Nature Center Teen Board is a unique opportunity for high school students to connect with the community as well as their environment. The purpose of the teenFriends Teen Board is to bring a team of high school students together to aid FMPNC, Inc. in preserving and sharing the native habitat of Martin Park for current and future generations. By engaging youth in our park activities, we will bring new energy into our mission-based work while developing nature and environmental ambassadors and future leaders of our community.

The teenFriends Teen Board seeks to encourage personal growth and development of the skills and behavior required of good teenFriend team members and leaders. Students will have the opportunity to earn volunteer service hours by attending board meetings and park events while learning about careers in natural resources, parks, recreation and leisure, wildlife, and biology. Board members will also have the unique opportunity to learn how nonprofits and societies work together and with city government.
